Photo Album: Helical & Push Piers Give Stability to a Home in Saint Joseph, MI

Our new friend John who recently purchased a home in Saint Joseph, MI found out that the north wall of his split-level home had settled several inches over time. Before moving into his new home, he decided to seek help from the experts and make his home level once again. Our companies’ founder and most senior leader, Virgil Ayers calculated a plan to lift the home back to its original position and permanently support its weight. In executing this plan, we used a combination of twelve helical and push piers. These piers are long steel shafts, that are advanced deep into the ground to competent soil. The footing of the home sits on top of these shafts using a heavy-duty steel anchor. We installed these anchors by excavating soil from around the exterior of the home until we reached the footing. We advanced the piers from there creating a solid and permanent solution, in finishing the job we replaced the removed soil. With these piers in place, we have allowed John’s home to once again regain its stability.

The piers have now been set in place, and the hole has been back-filled. Through the hard work of our team, this home has once again been stabilized. It's now time to lay grass seed to help return this lawn to its natural state while combating erosion.
