Photo Album: Wet Crawl Space Transformed in Fremont, MI

This homeowner called with a wet, dirt crawl space. The exposed earth was letting water vapor continuously enter the space and the vents that were installed allowed any outside elements (cold/hot air, humidity, rain, snow, etc.) to easily enter as well. Without a way to collect and discard the water, such as a sump pump, the standing water continued to occupy the space and evaporated up into her home. To transform her wet crawl space, we installed the CleanSpace liner, drainage matting and vent covers to waterproof the space. We also installed a SmartSump sump pump to discard any water and an IceGuard and LawnScape outlet to make sure the collected water in the sump pump will exit the space efficiently and effectively. To eliminate the moisture in her crawl space we installed the SaniDry CX dehumidifier and FrothPak spray foam to insulate the space.

Standing Water is a Bigger Problem Than You Think

Standing water present in a crawl space with no way to exit will continue to evaporate into the air creating high levels of moisture and humidity. This can cause mold and rot to grow and the air will eventually rise up into your home bringing the damp air and mold spores with it.

Useless Plastic Liner

Many people try to install their own plastic liners to waterproof and vapor proof their crawl spaces. Unfortunately, they are usually ineffective and easily damaged.

Water Flows Easily to Sump Pump With Drainage Matting

Drainage matting is installed underneath the CleanSpace liner. The dimpled surface on the matting helps water easily flow underneath the liner to make sure it can reach the SmartSump sump pump and exit the space.

FrothPak and SilverGlo Used to Insulate Space

FrothPak insulation is used to seal and insulate crawl space walls. It is made of inorganic material that prevents mold growth and is different from traditional fiberglass insulation because it doesn't absorb ambient moisture. SilverGlo insulation works as both a radiant heat and moisture barrier, which can direct any water directly to your sump pump.

CleanSpace Liner Encapsulates Dirt Crawl Space

CleanSpace is a waterproof and vapor proof liner that is installed to seal the crawl space off from the earth. The liner is made from a puncture and tear resistant material to ensure it will last as long as the house.

SmartSump Sump Pump Removes Ground Water Leaks

The SmartSump sump pump collects any water in the space and ensures it is discharged outside of the home. This system includes an airtight lid to prevent the water in the sump from evaporating into the crawl space. A pump alarm is also included that tells you when the sump pump is not working so you can deal with the problem immediately. If a plumbing leak were to occur, this system also comes with a floor drain that lets water enter the sump pump immediately, without letting damp air out.

Frozen Pipes Are No Match For IceGuard

During the winter months, discharge lines can become blocked with snow and ice. This can cause water to build up in the pipe and freeze. The holes in the IceGuard system makes sure if the pipe is frozen water will still be able to exit automatically, instead of flowing back into your home and causing the space to flood.

LawnScape Outlet Directs Water Away From Home

A LawnScape is an outlet for water to exit from discharge lines in a home. It is installed underground and leads the water away from your home to make sure it exits without coming back toward your house.
