East Grand Rapids, MI Basement Problems
The problem is that in the most beautiful area's to live in Western Michigan, there are lots of lakes and water. In East Grand Rapids we have Reeds Lake and Fisk Lake, while both are wonderful to enjoy all year round, they add to the issues common to basement and crawl space water in E Grand Rapids. In addition, we have older housing stock built before drainage strategies were developed, so homeowners took it upon themselves in many cases to design custom waterproofing solutions which commonly failed.
This is an example of what we commonly find all over East Grand Rapids, Lowell, Ada and Cascade Township, Michigan. This is a low capacity pump, standing virtually unsupported with a discharge line that can easily become disconnected ending up spraying water all over the basement.
Here is an example of water being pushed up through floor cracks by hydrostatic pressure. This is common throughout Western Michigan near Lake Michigan and most inland lakes like Morrison or Clark Lake. In this case with lots of water we used our patented XL system to manage the water keeping this customers whole basement dry!
This is another example of an old builder crock and homeowner sump pump set up for failure. Notice the sump pump is laying on it's side with the float tangled next to a brick and the discharge line. We fix these permanently so our customers have no more worries. This picture was taken in Rockford, MI right downtown in a beautiful old home with a very nasty basement. After it was fixed by Ayers Basement Systems - no more worries for this family.
