Critters and Your Crawl Space
We often talk about the benefits of encapsulating your crawl space when it comes to your health, since dust and mold can exacerbate asthma and allergies. We even explain that encapsulation can lower your energy bills and make your home more comfortable. But we don’t discuss the four (or six, or eight) legged reason to encapsulate.
Critters.
I use the word critters because it’s the only thing that really encompasses the variety of stuff that could be living and lurking in your crawl space. Ants, earwigs, spiders, mice, even squirrels or frogs - they all love an accessible crawl space that keeps them out of the rain and cold.
From your crawl space, the smaller critters often make their way up into your home via tiny openings around your crawl space access or even the air ducts. If you’ve ever had bugs that you just could not find the origin of, it’s likely your crawl space. While the larger end of the critters don’t often head upstairs, it can still be unpleasant or even dangerous for them to take up residence in your crawl space. They can chew wires, spread bacteria, or even die and increase the horrible smells wafting up.
Our crawl space encapsulation system eliminates all of that. CleanSpace vapor barrier literally seals off your crawl space from the earth surrounding it, meaning there’s no entrance point for critters. Combined with a SaniDry dehumidifier and one of our insulation options, it also makes the crawl space inhospitable for them and clean and dry for you.
It’s easy to never think about your crawl space, but it’s important to keep it in mind. Encapsulation means never spending another winter managing bugs looking for refuge or wondering what that dead animal smell is. Call today to ask about CleanSpace and schedule your free inspection.
