Meet Cathy Burke, Director of Marketing
To say that Cathy Burke is an integral part of the marketing department would be an understatement. When she started in 2012, she was the ONLY part of the marketing department, coming in as Director of Marketing just as Ayers was really starting to grow.
Cathy has had a huge hand in the growth over the past five years, creating a cohesive marketing strategy and hiring every one of the people who comprise the marketing department - now five full time employees (including yours truly) and four interns.
Cathy is known in the company for her adaptability and easygoing nature. She has moved offices multiple times to accommodate space needs without so much as a complaint and assistant marketing director Pat Schneider calls her “unflappable.” She is open to feedback (even when it’s bad - maybe especially when it’s bad, since she’s always working to improve the company) and never hesitates to congratulate our successes and help us through rough spots.
“I don’t think you could find a more supportive and pleasant person to work with than Cathy,” says our appointment center manager, Brian. “Since my first day of employment on April 4th, she has been supportive and a wealth of information whenever I have questions regarding work processes. She is very approachable and a consummate professional; I consider it an honor and pleasure to work with Cathy.”
Outside of work, Cathy likes doing yoga and traveling up north with her husband, Tim. She and Tim have two grown daughters and one grandson, with another on the way any day. Cathy can often be found wandering the office showing off the latest photos of her family, and since it’s often her laptop that we use at all-company meetings, they’re usually projected onto the big screen, as well, ensuring everyone in the company has seen her grandson’s latest sassy face.
Because I like to end these with a story: Cathy and I traveled to Omaha, Nebraska for a Supportworks conference in March, and decided to walk around downtown the first afternoon. We passed a park that had a large slide and she briefly considered going down it, but there were too many kids. A few hours later, as we walked back to the hotel, the park was emptier, and off she scurried toward the slide. Purse and all, she went down the slide as young children and their parents looked on. I texted the video to the rest of the marketing department with the caption, “Our boss.”
Thanks for being a part of the team, Cathy!
