Weird Wednesday: New York Teenager Fidget Spins Profits From Parents' Basement
Never have I ever felt older than when I discovered this article about a high school student who started a fidget spinner business in his parents’ basement. Because I had absolutely no idea what a fidget spinner was. I had to ask our intern. It's a dark day.
It’s turns out they’re ~all the rage with the youngsters~ and starting down the path of school confiscation forged by Tamagotchis, pogs, all the way back to jacks.
I digress. The point is, as fidget spinners gained popularity, a high school senior in New York decided he didn’t want to wait for shipping times to get his own, so he used his school’s 3-D printer to make one. He then saw an opportunity and now, after being shut down from using school resources for profit, has purchased his own 3-D printer and is selling them out of his parents’ basement.
Kids these days.
