The Perfect Basement: How WaterGuard, TripleSafe and SaniDry Keep Your Basement Dry
Before discussing the “Perfect Basement,” it’s important to note that each basement is different and there are a variety of reasons why one could be leaky, smelly or wet. Most times, however, the blame can be put on groundwater leakage and/or water vapor coming in through the floor and walls.
The ideal basement will have neither of these problems and will be dry. Not only should it feel dry, it should also smell and look dry, too. Our products are designed to work with each other to accomplish this, and I’ll highlight how WaterGuard, TripleSafe, and SaniDry can do exactly that in your basement.
WaterGuard
You’ve noticed water leaking through the walls of your basement. Maybe it’s even starting to seep across the floor and puddle in some areas. You could dig up all the dirt around your foundation and spend a lot of time and money installing a new footing drain, or you could install WaterGuard. This interior drainage system is designed to collect the water that leaks through the walls. Specially designed piping is installed along the perimeter of the basement on top of the of the footing of the foundation. As water leaks through the walls and makes its way to the floor, WaterGuard collects it before it can move anywhere else. Since the piping sits on top, and not along the footing like other drainage systems, WaterGuard can’t get clogged with mud, ensuring that all water can effectively be collected and rerouted.
TripleSafe
So now that the water has been collected with WaterGuard, where does it go? The answer is to the sump pump—a hole in the ground with a pump in it that pumps the water out of the basement through a discharge line. Sump pumps are pretty common, but they vary vastly in size and capabilities. We designed the TripleSafe sump pump to handle all the water, all the time. Triple safe is housed in a study liner that has little holes in it; these holes collect water from the ground directly. The sump pump, as I mentioned, also accepts the water from the WaterGuard system and is covered with an airtight lid which prevents water from evaporating into the basement.
TripleSafe gets its name from having 3 pumps contained within one liner. One of these pumps is a standard Zoeller pump which handles a majority of the pumping. The second is another Zoeller pump which sits higher in the liner to collect water if the first pump can’t keep up. The third liner is a battery powered pump that operates when the power goes out. So, no matter how much water comes in, or if a storm knocks out your power, water is always pumped out.
SaniDry
Now that the basement definitely looks dry, it may not feel or smell dry. If the outside air is warmer, it’s likely that condensation will be a problem in the basement. Since basements are usually cool because they’re below ground, the hot air from outside is cooled, and moisture is produced. Once the air is saturated with moisture, it produces condensation on the walls, floors and pipes in the basement.
That’s where the SaniDry Basement Air System comes into play. A high-capacity dehumidifier, SaniDry is energy star rated, and can remove up to 100 pints of moisture per day from your basement air. The dehumidifier automatically drains to the WaterGuard system or sump pump so the water can be eliminated from the basement. By drying out the wet, humid air, SaniDry eliminates the musty smell and eliminates condensation from the surfaces in your basement.
WaterGuard+ TripleSafe + SaniDry = The Perfect Basement!
These three products accurately depict one successful way to waterproof a basement so that the three requirements of really being “dry” are met. WaterGuard and TripleSafe eliminate water from leaks in the basement, so the space is void of puddles and looks dry. SaniDry wrings the air of moisture, lowering humidity and eliminating condensation so the space smells dry and feels dry. Imagine what you could do with your basement if it was finally dry!
