Weird Wednesday: Spring Cleaning Leads to WWII Bazooka Discovery
You never know what you’ll find when you’re cleaning up your basement. There could be photo albums you thought lost, boxes never unpacked, vintage clothing you think you can still pull off (please don’t try), or sometimes militia grade weapons.
At least that’s what happened for Wisconsin resident, Jim Thomas. While doing some typical home cleaning last week, Thomas discovered a false top to a shelf he regularly used. That was when he noticed the World War II bazooka rocket hanging out in his basement. As if finding a hidden compartment in your house wasn’t surprise enough, imagine the shock of discovering you’ve been living above a weapon designed to blow up tanks.
I doubt that there is a “right” person to find potential explosives, but, luckily, Thomas was far from the wrong person. He has a military background and decided to take the device into the Fond du Lac Police Department himself. The bomb squad then dismantled the device upon arrival.
While we at Ayers are always here to help, we would prefer if any explosive devices were removed before we begin production.
