Richland, MI Basement Gets a WaterGuard Makeover
Challenge
The customer was referred to us by the builders she'd hired for some renovations to a house she'd recently purchased. They found considerable water damage and multiple leaks and told her that the basement was the first thing she should take care of.
Solution
The basement was finished, but the homeowner was already planning on having the contractors gut it, so we coordinated with them to install waterproofing products without disturbing the existing plumbing in the floor.
We began by cutting a few inches from the bottom of the walls in order to have better access to the floor. We then installed 166 feet of the WaterGuard below floor drain system so the incoming water would have a path to the new TripleSafe sump pump. We added extra discharge lines across the basement as well to ensure proper drainage. Since the basement was so large, we also installed four WaterGuard inspection ports at various points in the system so we would always be able to access the drain system for yearly maintenance visits.
A LawnScape outlet allowed the water to be diverted away from the basement and discharged outside, and IceGuard assured that the discharge line outside wouldn't freeze in the winter.
