Waterproofing a Flooded Basement in Portage, MI
Challenge
Mark had a finished in his newly purchased home. The home was built in 2000 and made with After a heavy rain, he discovered water in one of the rooms in the basement and had to pull up the carpet. After pulling up the carpet, Mark noticed there are hairline cracks in the floor. Unfortunately, over time concrete shifts and cracks allowing for water to come into the basement.
Solution
After this headache of a basement, Mark decided to get it waterproofed. Our team decided on an array of products to fix this problem. We installed the WaterGuard Perimeter system. The perimeter system is installed to combat the water that seeps through the wall. Any water seeping through will fall to the WaterGuard system.
Mark did not have a sump pump in his basement and without one he was not maximizing the full effect of the WaterGuard System. In collaboration with the WaterGuard system, we installed the TripleSafe sump pump. The water that gathered in the basement had no way to exit. The TripleSafe sump pump is the King and Queen of sump pumps. It has 2 liners and 3 pumps in one. The second pump kicks on in the case the first pump can’t keep up with the water and the third turns on in the event of a power outage. For Mark, this is the best option because he has large amounts of water coming in that a normal sump pump would not be able to handle.
To ensure that this basement stays dry during those winter months we installed Iceguard. Usually when discharge lines freeze the water has nowhere to go and flows back into the basement. Iceguard is engineered to expel the water in the case the discharge lines freeze. This ensures your basement stays dry all year around.
