Nick and his wife moved into their 1940 Swartz Creek, Michigan, home 5 years ago. Although, they didn’t start to have water issues until a few years later. Over time it was gotten much worse but until now they haven’t had the finances to take care of the issue. Now that they do, they want to make sure it’s done right. They had a couple of other estimates, but none were as thorough as ours.   

Nick’s basement is a concrete foundation with no sump pump. It’s an unfinished basement that gets water intrusion every time there are heavy rains. A few spots have what seem like fountains coming through the walls and other areas puddle on the floor. They’ve been using a shop vac regularly for much longer than they should have been and can’t wait to get the issue taken care of. To combat this issue, we would install WaterGuard throughout the basement. 

WaterGuard is a subfloor waterproofing system that collects water that leaks through the walls and keeps dirt away from the foundation. It is installed along the perimeter of the basement and on top of the footing of the foundation. Concrete is poured on top and regular flooring can be placed on top.  

Nick and his wife were elated by the craftmanship of work performed by our Ayers crew and loved how kind they were with them and their home. They felt so much relief knowing they wouldn't have to spend hours in the basement cleaning up water anymore.

CleanSpace Keeps Floors Warmer and Air Healthier to Breathe in Swartz Creek, MI Home

Edward called Ayers Basement Systems because of a musty smell in the main level of his Swartz Creek, Michigan, home. He also had cold floors in the living and dining rooms. He's had three companies come out previously to give him estimates, but after hearing what Ayers had to offer, he canceled the other companies.

After the initial inspection, we immediately determined that the crawl space under Edward's home was causing both the musty smell and the cold floors. To combat these issues, we would install CleanSpace with drainage matting underneath as well as rim joist insulation.

CleanSpace creates a protective shield against moisture, using a durable plastic liner that covers the entire crawl space to keep them dry and last decades longer. It also has antibacterial properties to prevent mold and bacterial growth, keeping the musty smell out of the house. Damp air takes more energy to heat and cool. Cutting down on the moisture in the crawl space will, in turn, cut down on how much it costs to heat and cool the home. 

Edward had fiberglass insulation in his rim joist that we tore out to replace with our rim joist spray foam insulation. This is safer and will keep the floors upstairs much warmer.
