We decided a great fix to this situation would be to install our patented SuperSump premier sump pump. Mike S. of Rogers City is not sure where the water is coming from in his basement. The basement flooded really badly after the snow melt in the spring and it has happened in previous years, as well. With this being said, Mike gave us a ring.

To remedy this situation, we installed two of our customer favorites: the WaterGuard French drain system and the SuperSump premier sump pump system. SuperSump is a sump pump specifically designed to keep your basement dry for long periods of time. After that was installed, we moved onto the WaterGuard system. WaterGuard rests below the basement floor and above the foundation footing, collecting water that seeps into the basement. Once that water is caught, it is redirected to the sump pump -- the SuperSump, in this case -- to be pumped up and put of the home.

Mike contacted us with concern for his mother’s home. Last spring, the basement in the house had flooded terribly after the snow melted, just as it had in previous years. The water didn’t leave any mold, mildew or smell, but it did leave Mike and his mom worried about what would happen in the future.

Together they decided to waterproof her basement to prevent flooding in the future and ensure that it would be dry even in the case of a minor leak. Our system design specialist, Dennis, visited the home to assess the situation and discussed the best plan of action for waterproofing the area. It was decided to install several products that work well together to keep the basement dry at all times.

First, WaterGuard, a specially designed subfloor drainage system was installed. This piping is laid around the perimeter of the room at the bottom of the walls. WaterGuard collects water from any leaks in the walls and reroutes it to the sump pump. Since the piping sits on top of the footing rather than alongside, it won’t get clogged with mud, allowing it to do it’s job at all times.

The WaterGuard system was then connected to a new SuperSump pump. This sump has a sturdy liner with holes to accept water directly from the ground as well as from the WaterGuard system. SuperSump has an airtight lid, too, which prevents any water from evaporating out of the hole in to the basement.

Both WaterGuard and the SuperSump are great choices to keeping your basement dry. By collecting water from the leaks and then pumping it out of the space, Mike’s mom can be confident that a flooded basement is a thing of the past.
