These homeowners called because the block foundation wall in their basement was failing. One of the first signs of a bowing wall is horizontal cracking, which is what we found in this home. Without a proper solution to stabilize the wall, the soil surrounding the home will continue to put pressure on the wall and the cracks will continue to increase in width, resulting in a failing wall.
Our team of experts installed the Geo-Lock wall anchors to stabilize the wall and move it back to its original position. To install this system, we started by digging a hole in the soil outside of the foundation wall where we placed a steel earth anchor. A steel rod was then drilled into the wall and was then connected to the anchor in the ground. Finally, we installed an interior wall plate over the rod (to connect to the basement wall) in the basement and we replaced the backfill and sod outside.
This system immediately stabilized the basement wall has the ability to be tightened over time to shift the wall back to its original position, for a long term solution.
