We've been told many times by building codes and officials that crawl spaces have to be vented, but why? Opening a hole in your crawl space allows air. This homeowner contacted us because his foundation basement wall were bowing greatly and have been continuing to get worse over the course of a few years. To fix this bowing wall problem, we decided to install our Geo-Lock wall anchor system to fully stabilize his wall and hopefully return it to its original position.
The Geo-Lock anchor system is installed by digging out the soil that is outside of your home in order to place a galvanized steel anchor into the soil. That anchor is connected to steel rods that are located on a steel plate in the basement wall, which will hold the foundation wall in place. The backfill and sod are both replaced during this installation and the anchors can be tightened over time to hopefully shift the wall back to its original position.
