Job Stories From Isabella County, MI
Waterproofing a Wet Weidman, MI Basement

This homeowner called us for a solution to his wet basement problems. He had water coming in from one corner of his bi-level home and wanted to find a way to fully waterproof his place before the problem became more serious. We decided to install WaterGuard, which is a perimeter waterproofing system that allows water to drain into the pipes and then exit into the sump pump. We also installed a SuperSump, which is a sump pump that ensures any water coming into the home is effectively removed. We next installed the IceGuard system to make sure water can be discharged from the home through specially designed holes, even if the pipe is frozen. The last piece to the waterproofing puzzle was the installation of a LawnScape outlet, which is used to direct water from the drainage pipes away from your home.

This homeowner will no longer have to worry about water invading his home!

Total Waterproofing for Mount Pleasant, MI Home

Melissa A. from Mount Pleasant, MI had water coming into her finished basement. It was enough to cause her to remove the carpeting, and she wanted a solution that was going to last.

First, we started by installing our TripleSafe sump pump system. TripleSafe is a sump pump that provides three levels of protection against water leakage. Whether it be normal water supply, heavy volumes of water, or in the case of a power outage, this sump pump will keep your basement dry. For normal water supply, the Zoeller ⅓ horsepower pump functions. At a heavier level, the Zoeller ½ horsepower pump activates. In the case of a power outage, the UltraSump backup sump pump will pump water on a backup battery.

Next, we installed the WaterGuard French drain system. WaterGuard rests above the foundation footing but below the floor, collecting water that enters into the basement. The water is then redirected to the sump pump -- the TripleSafe, in this case.

Finally, we installed the SaniDry XP standing dehumidifier. This dehumidifier removes up to 109 liters of water per day and has a ductwork that is compatible for drying finished spaces. It's air filter even removes particles as small as 2 microns.

Water, say goodbye!

Say Goodbye to Water-Saturated Carpet in Mount Pleasant, MI Home

Kathy H. of Mount Pleasant, MI had water on her basement floor that seemed to come in from the foundation. The basement floor is carpeted and the water on the floor would saturate the carpet. She also had a "very soggy" spot in her front yard year round.

Our fix? The WaterGuard French drain system and the TripleSafe sump pump system. WaterGuard sits below the basement floor and above the foundation footing, collecting the water that enters into the basement from the walls. The TripleSafe comes in to play because WaterGuard directs the water it collects to the TripleSafe sump pump to be pumped outside. TripleSafe is sump pump that provides three levels of protection against water leakage. Three levels of protection, being normal water supply, heavy volumes of water, or in the case of a power outage, this sump pump will keep your basement dry. For normal water supply, the Zoeller ⅓ horsepower pump functions. At a heavier level, the Zoeller ½ horsepower pump activates. In the case of a power outage, the Ultrasump backup sump pump will pump water on a backup battery.

Kathy can now feel comfortable in her home with these systems in place.

Waterproofing Job for the Pros in Mount Pleasant, MI

Teresa H. of Mount Pleasant, MI was having a basement water issue before she called us. Every time it would rain or snow would thaw, the basement would receive water. She had a sump pump but it wasn't doing enough to keep the water under control.

Our fix was the TripleSafe sump pump system and the WaterGuard French drain system. We began the project by installing the TripleSafe. The TripleSafe is a sump pump that provides three levels of protection against water leakage.

After that installation, we put in the WaterGuard. WaterGuard rests below the basement floor but above the foundation footing, collecting water that seeps into the basement from the walls. That water is then directed to the sump pump -- the TripleSafe -- to be pumped up and out of the home.

WaterGuard to the Rescue in Flooded Mount Pleasant Basement

Ryan M. from Mount Pleasant, MI was dealing with a serious water issue before he called us. The night before he reached out to us he removed 24 gallons of water from his basement. The water seemed to be seeping in through the cinder blocks.

Our solution? The WaterGuard French drain system. WaterGuard rests below the floor and above the foundation footing, collecting water that seeps into the basement from the walls. This water is then redirected to the sump pump to be pumped up and out of the home. WaterGuard is a surefire way to keep your basement free of floods.

Leaky Basement Put to an End by WaterGuard

Sherrie B. of Mount Pleasant, MI has a serious leak in her basement wall prior to calling us. The leak was letting in unwanted water, even though she had another company put in a French drain system a while ago.

Our solution? The WaterGuard French drain system. Our patented WaterGuard system rests below the basement floor and above the foundation footing, collecting water that enters the basement from the walls (or, through leaks in the walls). This water is then redirected to the sump pump to be pumped up and out of the home.

Wet Floor and Walls in Weidman, MI Basement

Lina Y. of Weidman, MI, had been struggling with her basement for quite some time. The floors and walls were both wet and there was a pungent musty odor in the basement. Because of these factors, Lina gave us a call for a professional solution.

We installed two of our favorite products, the TripleSafe sump pump system and the WaterGuard French drain system. The TripleSafe is a sum pump that functions optimally at three different water levels. Whether it be normal water supply, heavy water supply, or water in the case of a power outage, the TripleSafe will keep the basement dry.

The WaterGuard is a drain that rests beneath the basement floor but above the foundation footing. Because of this positioning, the WaterGuard drain collects all the water that seeps into the basement from the walls. Once this water is collected, it is redirected to the sum pump -- the TripleSafe --to be pumped up and out of the home.

WaterGuard System Solves Water Problem in Weidman, MI

Jack R. from Weidman, MI dealt with extreme water leakage in his basement before reaching out to us for help. There was water leaking into his basement in the south and east corners and he has been trying to remedy the issue for years. Thankfully, we had a solution.

We installed our patented WaterGuard French drain system. WaterGuard rests below the foundation footing and above the basement floor, collecting all the water that leaks into the basement from the walls. Once this water is collected, it is redirected to the sump pump to be pumped up and out of the home.

Now Jack can be comfortable in his home knowing that water in his basement is most definitely being taken care of.

Hole in Wall Gushing Water into Weidman, MI Basement

Ellen P. of Weidman, MI was experiencing extreme water problems before she reached out to us. In her unfinished office area in her basement, a huge hole had formed in her water and water was "gushing in." This can cause serious complications for a basement and especially an office space. Good thing we had a solution.

We installed two of our favorite basement waterproofing products: the WaterGuard French drain system and the SuperSump premier sump pump system. The WaterGuard drain rests above the basement floor but below the foundation footing, collecting water that seeps into the basement from the walls. Once this water is collected, it is redirected to the sump pump to be pumped up and out of the home.

This sump pump is the SuperSump sump pump system. The SuperSump is sump pump specifically designed to keep your basement dry for long periods of time. Capable of pumping 2,220 gallons of water per hour, it is suitable for heavy water intrusion.

These installments ensure a waterproofed basement for the long haul for Ellen.

Wall Anchors Save Failing Wall in Mount Pleasant, MI

This household in Mount Pleasant, MI called us about a wall that had started bowing. Our team here at Ayers had a solution to this issue.

We installed the Geo-Lock wall anchor system to stabilize the failing foundation wall. We start by excavating the soil outside of the wall in order to place the steel anchors deep into stable soil. The anchors are then placed against the failing wall and tighten in with a steel pole. After this process is complete, we fill the soil to cover up the holes. The wall is finally stable and will no longer shift nor crack.

The homeowners can finally have peace of mind after the job was completed.

Bowing Wall in Rosebush, MI Basement

This bowing basement wall was in need of some serious help. Stair-step cracks were found, which is a common sign of wall failure in block foundation walls. This often means that the problem is worsening because as the wall continues to bow, the corners have to rely on adjacent walls to hold it up, creating the stair-step cracks.

We installed the PowerBrace system to support this basement wall. This system involves steel beams that are secured to joists above the wall with steel brackets. These beams are coated in zinc to prevent corrosion and the braces use a joist reinforcement technique to transfer the weight of the wall evenly across the basement ceiling so the floor above does not sink or crack.

Shepherd, MI Basement Stays Dry With WaterGuard

We received a call from a customer in Shepherd, Michigan. Their basement walls were not staying dry and they were worried about what water could do to their basement walls. So we went to the property and installed WaterGuard. The WaterGuard is a pipe that runs water underneath the floors. This system runs on top of the footing instead of alongside it. The WaterGuard has a big drain outlet to the sump. It also has a built in tiny gap between the floor and the wall so that it can drain any wall leaks.  This system is designed not to clog by having holes in case of debris clogging the pipe. The WaterGuard collects the water from drains in the basement.

SmartJacks Stabilize Mt. Pleasant Crawl Space

Charles called with a settling problem that turned out to be the fault of failing crawl space supports. When traditional wood or concrete pillars rot, settle, or shift, they leave the floor joists unstable and the home unsupported.

We used SmartJack crawl space support posts to stabilize the floor joists and keep them supported. SmartJacks are made from steel and won't corrode or be ruined by mold. We also used CleanSpace vapor barrier and drainage matting to encapsulate the space and protect it from ambient moisture.

The CleanSpace & SaniDry Become Assets of an Indian River, MI Home

Bill, our friend in Indian River, MI grew tired of his gross damp crawl space. He began contemplating the idea of putting his home up for sale but knew his scary crawl space would be a turn-away for many potential buyers. One of our System Design Specialist went to Bill’s home and created an individualized solution consisting of our CleanSpace crawlspace encapsulation system. The CleanSpace encapsulation product is a 20mm thick plastic barrier that completely and entirely seals off the crawlspace from the unknown elements it faces below. Additionally, we installed CleanSpace Drainage Matting to channel the water in Bill’s crawl space to his pre-existing sump pump. Finally, our friend elected to tackle the relative humidity in his crawl space with the SaniDry Sedona. The SaniDry will promote dry breathable air throughout his home. Since our friend’s crawl space make over, he has decided not to put his home up for sale. Bill credits our efforts for changing his mind about selling his home. Like Bill did, give us a call to see what the CleanSpace can do for you.

Fixing a Flooded Crawl Space in Mt. Pleasant, MI

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Good things come to those who wait”. In some instances that quote may be beneficial, however when you’re knees deep in water and mold is surrounding you in every direction, waiting is the last thing you should do. Instead, you should give us a call. Immediately.

And that’s exactly what Steven did when he noticed that the longer he waited, the worse his crawl space was getting. Water had begun flooding his crawl space and after time, mold, mildew and other pests followed suit.

Our team of System Design Specialists devised a plan to save his Mt. Pleasant, Michigan home from deteriorating by encapsulating the area with our state-of-the-art CleanSpace products.

To ensure the integrity of Steven’s home we started by removing the water and installing CleanSpace Drainage Matting. The matting rests directly on the crawl space floor to trap moisture and direct water to your drainage system. The matting is compatible with all of our crawl space products making it cost efficient and convenient.

We then encapsulate the crawl space with CleanSpace Vapor Barrier Liner. The thick, durable, liner clings to every inch of the crawl space, guaranteeing that mold and unlikely pests stay out. When combined with the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier, virtually no moisture will be present for years to come.

Waterproofing System in Mt Pleasant, MI

Sue Ann isn’t in desperate need of a waterproofing system yet. With the right tools she can get ahead of any water that will cause problems in the future. If you see signs of intruding water in your space, preventative measures are important. This will save hundreds of dollars in repairs in the future.

We installed the SuperSump Plus sump pump and IceGuard.  The SuperSump Sump Pump has a unique lid design so that water can drain down but the damp air will not sneak back up into your space. When there is an indication of flooding an alarm will sound to alert you so you have plenty of time to take action and additionally you can also have a battery-powered backup installed like Sue Ann did so your pump will work in power outages. To top it off we have IceGuard. The IceGuard System makes sure water is expelled from the house in freezing temperatures like the ones we have in Michigan winters. This ensures homeowners do not have to worry about frozen water blocking the pipes and drainage system. However, normally water is expelled through the lawnscape outlet which once installed, is almost invisible in your yard.

Sue Ann took all the right steps to preserve her house and make sure it's as healthy as can be for as long as someone is living there.

Stabilizing a Mount Pleasant Basement

Fred and Maggie had some cracks in their basement walls but this past year started to bow. There were cracks straight across the walls and stair step cracks from one corner to the other. To stabilize the wall, we installed CarbonArmor which installs quickly and does not impact future finishing of the basement. The system is made up of carbon fiber straps that are bonded to the wall using high strength resin.

Creating a Dry, Safe Basement for this Mount Pleasant Family

Ryan called us to see what options we had for waterproofing his basement and adding in an egress window. He wants to finish the basement so that his kids have a nice, dry, and safe space to play in. We installed the Egress Window which provides a safe exit in case of emergencies as well as allowing more natural light in, making the space appear more welcoming! We also installed the Basement to Beautiful Panels which insulate the space and get the basement ready wall finishing’s such as drywall. These panels are made with our SilverGlo insulation which is graphite-infused insulation and will not rot or soak up water. Lastly, we installed the SaniDry XP Dehumidifier to make sure the space is dry. This dehumidifier can be stored in a corner or closet to not interfere with a finished basement and filters the air removing particles as small as 2 microns!

Crawl Space SmartJacks to Save Mount Pleasant, MI Home

Stan does not get around his home very well and what was originally water in the crawlspace turned into a settling foundation. The floors were starting to sag and a real safety issue was beginning to emerge. He wanted Ayers to come out and fix the problem before he's gone so his wife wouldn't have to. We came out to inspect the home and determined that Stan would need us to install SmartJacks for him to stabilize the foundation.

SmartJacks are steel supports that balance the foundation of the crawlspace. They are anchored into the ground with poured concrete. They can be adjusted to slowly lift the foundation to its original position.

Stan was overjoyed we could provide him with a safe home for his wife. They will never have to worry about the instability and integrity of the home ever again.

Stopping a Persistent Flood

Lucille was almost at her wit's end when it came to dealing with this 30-year-old flood in her basement. The flood was so persistent that she contacted Ayers and had our foreman Bruce perform an inspection.

Bruce noticed the home was in need of a new sump pump and more protection against high amounts of water.

Bruce installed a new pump known as the TripleSafe pump. TripleSafe is a trusted sump pump at Ayers due to its three levels of security. The first level is a powerful motor that has a high water capacity. The second level of security is a reserve motor that activates if the water surpasses a certain level on the initial motor. The third level of security is a backup battery that only activates if the home losses power.

Bruce also installed a WaterGuard drainage system to help control extra water. WaterGuard is a system of draining channels that are connected to the home's sump pump. The channels are installed under the foundational floor and covered with poured concrete, making it invisible to the naked eye. The channels lead to an outlet pipe that takes the water far away from the home's foundation, depositing the water in a safe location.

Correcting Cracks in a Mount Pleasant, MI Basement

John found cracks in his basement walls and wanted a fast solution. He contacted Ayers and had our resident foreman Evan inspect the area. Evan noticed water damage and drafted a treatment plan.

Evan decided to install a WaterGuard drainage system to better control the water and added CarbonArmor strips to help seal and correct the cracks. Finally, he installed an Egress window upon John's request.

GeoLock Anchors Address Bowing Walls in Mount Pleasant, MI Home

Linda and Patrick were worried about their bowing wall in their basement getting worse so they began the search for solutions. They decided on calling Ayers and we sent a crew out to their home for a free inspection. After taking a look at these issues, our System Design Specialists concluded they could use our GeoLock Anchors.

These GeoLock Anchors provide a long-lasting solution that will prevent further inward movement of the wall. To start, there is the interior anchor plate that sits on the inside of the foundation wall. Then a steel cable is drilled through the plate, the wall, and the soil to a predetermined distance from the house. From here another plate is anchored to the other end of the cable in stable soil. These anchors work to prevent further wall bowing that is caused by soil pressure. This system can even be tightened over time which could straighten the wall as well.

With this GeoLock solution, Linda and Patrick are now assured the safety of their home!

WaterGuard System Collects Water Seeping in Through Basement Walls in Mount Pleasant, MI

David was sick and tired of dealing with water intruding in his basement space through the walls. He wanted a  waterproofing solution that would last so he called Ayers. We set up a time for a free inspection so we could unravel the underlying issue. The problem area was where the floor and wall met as this is where the water was intruding, so a sub-floor drainage system was the right call. This is called our WaterGuard System, it is installed along the perimeter of the basement and rests on top of the footing of the foundation to prevent clogging and it will collect any water seeping in through this wall. It is hooked to the sump pump system so the water is directed here rather than his precious belongings. To hide the drain we pour concrete over it and so once the concrete dries it will blend in more. David was thrilled to get a permanent solution so these water leaks wouldn't damage his home anymore!

Preventing Drainage Pipe Clogging for Mount Pleasant, MI, Homeowner

Cindy was concerned the water leaking into her basement would lead to more issues, so she researched her options and called Ayers for help. Our crew of specialists visited her home to evaluate the situation and recommended installing WaterGuard, a more effective drainage pipe system. WaterGuard sits on top of the home's footing rather than beside it like most drainage pipes, which works wonders in preventing clogs. Cindy feels much better with a dry basement!

Swapping Out Old Sump Pump for TripleSafe in Shepherd, MI, Home

Sue was concerned about the water pooling on her basement floor. She decided to give Ayers a call to learn about our waterproofing solutions. Our experts visited her home and examined the basement to recommend a solution. They decided to install the TripleSafe sump pump. TripleSafe includes three pumps and is designed to react to pump failure. The system contains a primary and backup pump but also has a third, battery-powered pump in case of power outages. Sue is relieved she doesn't have to worry about her pump failing again!
