Melvin realized his crawl space was moist and moldy and knew this wasn't a good sign. He knew mold would consume his wooden support beams and called Ayers to learn about our solutions. We sent our team of experts to his home, and they suggested the installation of CleanSpace, an antimicrobial-lined vapor barrier. CleanSpace is applied entirely to the crawl space walls and floors for complete encapsulation. Melvin is happy he called Ayers!
Gary and Carol W. reached out to us because they were looking to deal with the foundation issue in their home. There was a large crack located in the corner of their foundation wall on the outside of the home. The foundation had sunk about an inch in that same corner and these homeowners were looking for a reliable solution that would support their home and prevent it from settling again in the future.
To stabilize the foundation and lift it back to its original level, we installed helical piers. First, we needed to remove the soil outside of the home where the settlement had occurred because the piers are installed at the base of the home and secured into place. The piers were then driven down into the ground until they reached stable soil that would be able to hold the weight of the home. Once the system was completely installed, the foundation slab in the home was lifted the soil was backfilled.
This old Houghton Lake cabin had a crawl space that was in need of proper insulation and a plastic sheathing that would keep moisture out. The crawl space had block walls and a sand base that allowed water and water vapor to easily access the space.
The first step in this project was to install drainage matting on the base of the crawl space. Because the space was going to be encapsulated with a liner, we needed the dimpled surface of the drainage matting to help guide water to the perimeter drain to prevent it from getting trapped underneath the liner.
The CleanSpace liner was installed on the base and the walls of the crawl space to completely seal it off from outside air and moisture. The liner is waterproof and vapor proof to prevent any type of moisture from entering the crawl space and its inorganic materials and antimicrobial additive prevents mold growth. The liner was securely fastened to the walls so the homeowner will never have to worry about it falling down and the material is extremely durable, making it resistant to ware and tare over time.
To insulate the walls in the crawl space we used FrothPak spray foam insulation. Unlike traditional fiberglass insulation this one will never absorb moisture in the space and if it did get wet, its inorganic materials prevent mold growth. The spray foam was easily used to completely seal the walls off from the outside environment.
