The owners of this Decatur, MI rental home started to notice moisture in the walls and throughout the carpet in this room. They did what they could to dry out the space, including running a dehumidifier, but nothing worked. Our team came and revealed that the moisture had indeed done some damage— causing mold and mildew to grow behind the drywall. The best option to combat this was to replace the drywall along the perimeter of the room and replace it with EverLast wall panels. These cement boards have a washable, vinyl finish and are more resistant to water than traditional drywall. ThermalDry tiles, which are the only inorganic subfloors resilient to water and mold, were then installed making this room dry and mold-free.

Settled Slabs and Wet Crawl Space Now Restored in Decatur, MI

This homeowner contacted us because he was looking for a system that would fix his wet crawl space. He also wanted to address the settled sidewalk and driveway leading to his home.

In order to collect and discard unwanted water in the crawl space, we installed the SuperSump sump pump system. This system included a sturdy liner and a powerful Zoller pump to ensure the space was fully protected. An airtight lid was also included in this effective system to prevent water in the sump from evaporating into the crawl space air, which would further contribute to the high humidity and moisture levels.

Next we installed the IceGuard system on the home’s discharge line. The large holes in this system help water immediately exit the sump pump even if the pipe was frozen. IceGuard ensures frozen discharge lines will not be the reason water re-enters the home and causes a flood. A LawnScape outlet was also installed on the end of the discharge line to guide water away from the home.

To fix the settled cement slabs, we installed the PolyLevel system. Specialized polymers were injected underneath the slab through small, drilled holes. The polymers expanded to lift the slab back to its proper level.
