Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Creating Usable Space in Alma, MI Basement

The customer already had a finished basement, but a pantry/canning room adjacent to their crawl space had water issues, as did the crawl space itself. They wanted the pantry to be usable space, and for the crawl space to stop being a huge headache. We installed WaterGuard and BrightWall panels in the pantry, and encapsulated the crawl space with CleanSpace and SilverGlo energy saving panels. Now they have their pantry back, and can stop averting their eyes whenever they pass the crawl space.

The pantry had extensive water damage resulting from the adjacent crawl space's ambient moisture and the block walls.

Most of the water was coming in at the ceiling level, so this is where the WaterGuard was installed to divert the water to the new sump pump.

While the crawl space didn't have leaks that required a drainage system, the block walls and dirt floor allowed ambient moisture to condense and wreak havoc on the finished basement, and especially the adjacent space that was a pantry before the water damage affected it.

WaterGuard was installed and tied into a new sump pump so the water could discharge properly and not constantly leak into the pantry.

After completing the waterproofing, the formerly dank and, frankly, gross walls were covered with BrightWall panels, which are an affordable and convenient way to finish basement walls. Now it looks like a safe space to store food!

By installing the CleanSpace vapor barrier system, the crawl space (and anything adjoining) will be protected from ambient moisture and the problems that come with it. And SilverGlo insulation panels will help regulate the house above from the ground temperature in the crawl space.
