Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Encapsulating and Insulating Chippewa Lake, MI Cottage

This homeowner called because she wanted to get her crawl space encapsulated. The floors in her Chippewa Lake cottage were extremely cold, and without proper insulation in her space, they would continue to be so. Little did she know, her dirt crawl space was causing even more problems than cold floors. The exposed earth in the space and the concrete block walls allowed water and water vapor to enter, creating a damp space that is susceptible to mold and rot. To transform her crawl space we installed the CleanSpace liner, drainage matting, SilverGlo wall panels and FrothPak spray foam.

Exposed Crawl Space

The porous block foundation wall and the exposed dirt floor in this crawl space let water and water vapor freely enter the space. Without proper insulation and a vapor barrier, this crawl space was also allowing cold damp air to enter other areas of the home.

Fallen Fiberglass Insulation

These homeowners were experiencing extremely cold floors due to ineffective insulation. The high moisture levels in the crawl space caused the fiberglass insulation to become saturated with water, causing it to fall. The organic materials in this type of insulation are also susceptible to mold growth.

Dimpled Drainage Matting

The dimpled surface on this drainage matting allows water to easily move underneath a crawl space liner to guide it to the drainage system in the space.

Insulate and Block Moisture with SilverGlo

The SilverGlo panels insulate the crawl space with their radiant heat barrier surface. This type of insulation also blocks moisture with its vapor barrier qualities and can direct any incoming water to the drainage system.

Seal Crawl Space Walls With FrothPak

FrothPak is a unique type of spray foam foundation that seals the crawl space off from outside elements. Unlike fiberglass insulation, FrothPak is made from inorganic materials that don't absorb moisture. The spray foam ensures all spaces will be sealed and insulated effectively.

Waterproof Crawl Space Liner

CleanSpace is a waterproof and vapor proof plastic liner that will seal the exposed ground and concrete walls off from any type of incoming moisture. The liner is extremely durable and made with a white plastic material that will give the crawl space a bright and clean look.
