Michigan winters can be brutal especially Up North. However, they’re inevitable so the best thing to do is to stay prepared. Homeowners Doug and Sandy were concerned about their crawlspace when they noticed the lack of insulation throughout the area. Having a well-insulated crawlspace ensures that your pipes do not freeze or burst during the cold months, ultimately protecting your structure from mold and rot. To help the Atlanta, Michigan couple, Systems Design Specialist Levi and his team installed our CleanSpace Vapor Barrier Liner. The thick, pool liner material acts as a barrier preventing water vapor and humidity from passing through. In combination with the CleanSpace Liner, the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier can remove up to 100 pints of moisture per day and automatically drains to the WaterGuard system.
Lastly the crew needed to tackle the old fiberglass insulation in the ceiling. We see this type of insulation in many homes and in most cases the material becomes a problem in the future. When fiberglass insulation becomes wet or damp it does not insulate as well as dry insulation. The weight from the moisture will pull it from the ceiling, leaving It messy and scattered across the perimeter. To combat the issue, we chose to insulate around Doug and Sandy’s pipes with our Froth-Pak Spray Insulation. The spray insulation is quick to install, made from inorganic and doesn’t absorb ambient moisture.
Terry noticed she had a dirt floor crawl space under her home. She worried about pests or extra water inside her home, so she called Ayers for help. We sent a team of specialists to her house, and they decided to install the CleanSpace vapor barrier. CleanSpace is an antimicrobial material designed to last alongside the house, far longer than a store-bought tarp. The vapor barrier is uninterrupted, covers the walls and floors of the crawl space, and eliminates moisture, pests, and mold. Terry loves her new crawl space!
A homeowner in Beulah, MI, had a very damp dirt floor crawl space, which raised concerns about moisture and insulation. Situated lakeside, the home was at higher risk for water intrusion. To resolve the issue, we installed a CleanSpace system with a drainage mat beneath it to channel water toward a sump pump and away from the home. In addition to preventing future moisture buildup, the CleanSpace system brightens the crawl space and creates additional usable storage. This solution also better insulates the space, keeping the home warmer in the winter and helping prevent mold from threatening their beautiful home.
The fiberglass insulation had started to fall down in this crawl space, and rodents were coming in through holes in the stone foundation. Installation repairs were made before CleanSpace was fitted to completely seal off the crawl space from the earth. CleanSpace is a heavy-duty, antimicrobial liner that’s permanently attached to the walls. This provides not only a barrier for water vapor, but critters as well.
Our customer’s wood sub-floor had begun to grown mold. The home was built in the 1980’s and had been exposed to moisture. We decided to install our durable plastic clean space liner to prevent mold growth and our Thermal Dry Floor. The liner is made of inorganic material that does not allow mold growth to prospers.
