Leaking water had taken its toll on Megan's basement. The wooden support beams were rotting and mold-covered and she knew she had to do something. Kevin has been having water problems for years. Recently he noticed cracks in his concrete basement walls. Water was coming through the cracks and causing mold to grow. Additionally, during heavy rains, water coming through the walls would start to form puddles. It was a nightmare for the family.

We addressed the cracks allowing water to come in through the wall. We used Flexispan to fill the cracks in the concrete. Flexispan is used to seal the cracks and has a built-in secondary repair strategy in case the first one fails. Al B. contacted us because the south side of his home had failing foundation. There were many cracks on the basement walls, both inside and outside of the home.

We decided to install the Geo-Lock wall anchor system and the PowerBrace system to completely stabilize the failing walls before the issue began to worsen.

To install the wall anchors, we first needed to excavate outside of the home in order to place steel earth anchors into stable soil. Those anchors were then connected to the failing walls with a steel wall anchors. Once the system was secured into place with steel rods and tightened into place, the system anchored the wall in place and prevented it from shifting or cracking any further.

The PowerBrace system used specialized steel I-Beams that were installed at the base of the wall and to the joists above the wall with steel brackets. Once installed, the braces prevented any further movement. We also provided the homeowner with a kit that can be used to tighten the braces over time to pull the wall back to its proper position.

Ted C. called because he noticed a puddle of water in his basement where the wall met the floor. He was looking for a waterproofing solution that would permanently deal with the problem and prevent standing water from accumulating on his floor.

To collect and drain water entering his basement we installed WaterGuard, which is a perimeter drainage system that guides intruding water directly to the sump pump, rather than flowing onto the floor. The flooring at the base of the walls was removed to place the WaterGuard pipes. These pipes were placed on top of the footing to prevent the system from clogging and just outside of the wall to ensure water coming into the home was able to filter into the system. Concrete fill replaced the excavated flooring so its like we were never even there!

Since the system was placed under the flooring, it was important to install an inspection port that gives us access if we need it.

Ryan L. called because he had watering entering his basement. The basement was finished and he wanted to ensure the problem was properly fixed before more damage was done to the drywall and carpeting. 

To collect and discard water that was entering the basement through the walls, we installed the WaterGuard perimeter drainage system. To begin this installation, we removed sections of flooring closest to the walls in order to place custom pipes and the remaining area left around the pipes was filled with crushed stone. Next we poured cement over the trench to refurbish the floors, making sure to leave a section of it uncovered for water to drain into. 

This home needed an efficient escape route for the water to exit the home, so we installed an additional discharge line and the IceGuard system. The discharge line was cut to the proper length and was attached to the WaterGuard system to discard intruding water outside of the home. IceGuard was installed on the discharge line to combat frozen pipes that can prevent water from exiting. The system has specialized holes that guide water outside of the discharge lines even if the pipes are frozen, which prevents it from re-entering the home and causing a large leak or flood. 

This customer’s home sat very close to Grand River, and he often experienced water flooding his basement. He had a sump pump, but it didn’t work all of the time, and when he lost power, it was completely useless. Hoping to finish his basement, Jon needed a sump pump that he could rely on to keep his basement dry.

Luckily, Ayers has a sump pump system that efficiently removes water from the basement, in virtually all conditions.
