The homeowner in this Belding, MI home had a crack on his basement wall that was allowing water to enter the home. He tried to fix it himself, which the leak down but did not completely stop it.

Thankfully, our team of experts knew a solution that would permanently fix the issue. We installed the FlexiSpan wall system to seal the crack and deal with any leaking water. We started by removing a small section of flooring at the base of the crack in order to place a drainage gate that would accommodate any water that was able to still enter through the crack after being sealed. Next, we sealed the cracks off with the FlexiSpan material that shifts with the wall as it moves to make sure the crack does no expand any further.

Archie M. had water continuously entering his basement and wanted to know what it would take to solve the problem.

Luckily our team of experts knew the perfect solution. We installed the effective WaterGuard system to gather intruding in order to discard it into the home’s sump pump. We excavated sections of the flooring around the perimeter of the basement to place specialized drainage pipes that would collect water entering at all points. After the installation was complete, we restored the flooring with concrete fill, making sure to leave a small section of the system at the base of each of wall uncovered so water can enter the pipes.  

Rich and Lynn F. called because their settled, back porch slab needed to be raised because the door that leads out to the porch was sticking. The concrete also had several cracks in it that they wanted fixed as well.

To raise the slab we used the PolyLevel system. This system uses high-density and lightweight polymers that lift the slab while addressing the weak soil issue that caused the slab to sink. The installation was very minimal and only required us to drill small penny-sized holes in the slab. The holes were filled with the polymers that expanded to raise the slab back to its original position. This project was fast and efficient with a cure time of only about 15 minutes.

The cracks were sealed with NexusPro joint sealer that prevents them from shifting any further. The sealant also fills the void in the cement that the cracks created, which improved the look of the porch.

Brian H. had a front step to his home that sunk about an inch and he was looking for a reliable solution. The settling had also caused part of the walkway leading to the step to crack, which also concerned the homeowner. 

To raise the step with minimal disruption, while providing the homeowner with an effective solution, we used the PolyLevel system. Several small holes were first drilled into the step and the walkway right in front of it in order to inject specialized polymers. The high-density and lightweight polymers were injected into the drilled holes so they could expand to immediately lift the concrete. This system addressed the weak soils that caused the slab to sink and the entrance to the home was completely restored. The polymers are a neutral color, which helped the installation blend in with the concrete so the look of the home was not disturbed. 

This homeowner was concerned about the sidewalk leading to his home that had settled. He wanted to find an effective solution that would level the concrete to improve the look and safety of his home.

To address weak soils that could no longer hold the weight of the sidewalk, we installed the PolyLevel system. Unlike mudjacking that uses heavy cement fill to raise the slab, PolyLevel uses lightweight polymers that expand to lift the concrete while addressing the weak soils. This installation began by drilling several small holes in the sidewalk at each area of settlement. Next the holes were filled with the high-density polymers that expanded to lift the slab with a short cure time of about 15 minutes. The slabs were then permanently stabilized with minimal disruption and the neutral colored polymer material gives the sidewalk a clean finish. 

Cracks were also found on the sidewalk due to the settlement and we wanted to ensure they were properly sealed. We caulked the cracks with NexusPro joint sealed which permanently sealed the cracks and prevented them from expanding any further. 

Kelly and Bill had quite an elaborate basement. In fact, the bottom layer of their home was actually made up of 3 adjoining rooms: a modern basement, an old fruit cellar and a crawl space that was bigger than both of the other two rooms. Unfortunately, as the years had passed by the three rooms had accumulated a list of problems. Water was seeping into the main basement through the walls, the walls in the cellar had started to rot and were no longer dependable, and the crawl space was lacking both insulation and stable support. For such a wide variety of problems, Kelly and Bill would need foundation work, a crawl space encapsulation, and a waterproofing system. Lucky for them, they found one company that could handle all their needs.

The crew had a tall order. They would need to make extensive repairs to all three rooms. But on the positive side, as separate repairs, the job didn’t pose that big of a problem. So they began with what would be the most time-consuming work: foundation solutions. Saving Kelly and Bill's old fruit cellar would require two new walls and an additional support beam across the center of the room. Our new Shotcrete service is a way to create new concrete support structures by simply designing a frame and then spraying the desired amount of concrete through a hose. The new walls made by Shotcrete are as stable as any form of foundation and can be accomplished without the risk of building a new wall from scratch. After repairing the cellar, the team got to work on the foundation ailments of the crawl space. The porch above was dependent on the floor joist ceiling in the room. After first adding in supplemental beams to give the floor joists extra support, the crew leveled about the porch by attaching the SmartJack system to the supplemental beams. Once the beams were raised to the appropriate height, the crew was ready for the next phase of the project.

With all the foundation work complete, the crew moved on to waterproofing. Specifically, curing the main basement’s weeping walls.  The best fix for the seepage was a perimeter drainage system and sump pump for discharge. The WaterGuard perimeter drainage system sits underneath the foundation floor at the foot of the walls in the basement. When water seeps down the walls, it will flow into the system and be directed to Kelly and Bill’s new SuperSump sump pump for discharge. While the drainage system would solve the water issues of the main basement, the crawl space was dealing with moisture problems of its own. Using the CleanSpace vapor barrier the crew was able to guarantee that moisture and outside air didn’t affect the crawl space temperature or the floors above it. A spray foam insulation was used to seal the rim of the crawl space, as well. To guarantee that the crawl space really was protected from the cold temperatures it had been experiencing, the crew added in two new entrances to the other basement rooms that would help regulate air flow.

It was a long and extensive project but Bill and Kelly now have a solution to all their problems, and best of all, it’s a solution that will last.
