This wet basement was in serious need of a waterproofing update. Cracks and the overall porous nature of the concrete block walls found in the basement allowed water and water vapor to easily enter the home. The basement did have a sump pump, although it proved to be ineffective at capturing incoming water and pumping it outside. Without a vapor barrier, a proper drainage system and sump pump to collect water from the walls and discharge it outside of the basement, water will continue to cause many problems for these homeowners. To waterproof this basement we installed the WaterGuard system, a SuperSump sump pump, the CleanSpace wall system, IceGuard, a LawnScape Outlet and SunHouse window enclosures.

Concrete is Porous

The concrete block walls in this home are extremely porous, meaning water vapor can easily pass through and enter the basement. The damp air coming in creates the stained, chalky look you can see on the concrete walls in this picture.

Inefficient & Ugly Sump Pump

Not only was this sump pump hard to look at, but it also was extremely ineffective. Water entering the basement was not being collected and pumped outside of the home effectively, leading to a wet basement. The holes in the lid also allowed any water in the sump to evaporate into the air, further contributing to the moisture problem.

The CleanSpace Wall System

This system uses CleanSpace, which is a durable plastic liner that serves as a vapor barrier and drains any water coming in through the wall directly into the drainage system in the home.

aterGuard is a perimeter basement system that is used to collect any water present in the space by filtering it into specialized pipes that lead the water to the sump pump to then be discharged from the home.

A Sump Pump That Does Its Job

A SuperSump is an effective sump pump system that ensures your basement will be water-free. This system works perfectly with the WaterGuard drainage system to ensure any collected water will enter the sump and be pumped directly outside of the home. This sump pump has an airtight lid to prevent the water from evaporating and has a pump alarm if for some reason the pump fails. An added benefit to this system is the sump pump stand that makes sure the pump will not clog with dirt or other debris.
