WaterGuard Stops Wall Leaks in Old Home

This home built in the 1800’s never had issues with water in their basement until recently. The old stone walls on one end of the basement started to leak just below the ledge in the wall. The perfect solution for this was WaterGuard. This drainage system consists of specially designed piping that is laid on top of the footing of the foundation with the purpose of catching wall leaks. The water that’s collected is then rerouted along the perimeter of the room to the sump pump where it’s pumped out of the basement. Who knows how many more years this house can stick around now that its basement is dry!

WaterGuard and SuperSump Plus Systems Defend Charlotte, MI Home Against Water Leaks

Brittany just moved into her Charlotte, MI home and was looking to address the water problems she noticed in the basement. She called Ayers to look into possible solutions. We sent a crew to inspect the leaks and it was decided she would need our WaterGuard System, SuperSump Plus, along with our IceGuard.

The WaterGuard System will be a great defense against these leaks as it is a sub-floor drainage system installed around the perimeter of the basement and will collect water or dirt. This will be concealed with concrete poured over the system and if she wants, Brittany can have regular flooring installed over this. The SuperSump Plus will pump out 2200 gallons of water each hour, it is perfect for the occasional water leak in basements. Lastly, we installed our IceGuard outside her home to protect her drainage lines from getting clogged or frozen. This will ensure her system holds up in the cold weather.

Brittany was ecstatic to get these water issues taken care of so she could start enjoying her new home, worry-free of these troubles!

FlexiSpan Gives Charlotte, MI Homeowner a Permanent Solution

A lot of the time when cracks appear on basement walls, people are slow to react. Many feel like the problem will just go away on its own if it’s small enough. Others think that any sealant will be a viable solution. That was the case for this Charlotte, MI homeowner. When he saw that a small portion of his basement wall was leaking, his first reaction was to plug it. Using caulk, he did his best to create a temporary seal over the crack. But eventually, the leaking started up again and with it came the puddling. This time, he knew he would need a professional service. Our crew gave him a permanent solution with the FlexiSpan system. FlexiSpan is a waterproof and flexible two-layer sealant that both plugs leaks and allows them to drain. How? Well, the first layer was pushed into the crack to create a waterproof seal that will hold back 95% of the leaking water. Then by adding a second layer of drainage, seen in the after photo, the crew created a path that will carry any leaking water down the basement wall and into a floor dry well at the foot of the wall.

Pooled Water Solved by WaterGuard in Charlotte, MI

The homeowners in Charlotte, MI had so much water coming into their home that it started pooling in certain areas of their basement. The pooling water was causing damage to their things and they needed a way to get it out of their home.

Our professional team installed the WaterGuard long lasting interior perimeter drainage system. The system sits on the top of the footing in the basement in order to prevent clogging from mud or other debris. The system works by trapping floor and wall seepage before it has a chance to damage the basement. Once the water is trapped in the drain it is immediately taken to the sump pump. The sump pump then removes the water from the home!

The before picture shows the WaterGuard system right after it was put in place and the after picture shows what the product looks like after it is all installed and covered with a clean layer of concrete.
